Minnie’s dad was a drug addict who went in and out of jail. When she was five, Minnie met him for the first time during a prison visit. She recounts, “He smiled at me when I first saw him and I didn’t feel like he was a stranger.”

As she grew up, Minnie felt loved by her dad despite his struggle to stay out of jail. While in prison, her dad became a believer of God and started to put his faith in Him. At 60 years old, he finally broke free from drugs and turned his life around. He kept his promise to walk Minnie down the aisle on her wedding day and also took delight in his first legal job as a cook. Minnie saw how God had transformed her dad’s life and she also began to believe in Him.

In 2017, Minnie was diagnosed with Stage 3 nose cancer and her dad never left her side throughout her recovery. However, in 2021, Minnie’s father was also struck by cancer. She says, “My dad told me not to be sad if he died. He asked me to be happy because he’s gone to meet Jesus.”

One night, Minnie had special and vivid dream – She dreamt of a white figure holding her dad’s hand. Her dad smiled and waved at her, saying goodbye. Minnie’s father passed away moments after she woke and though she struggled with grief, she soon found peace in God and the memory of her dad.

“I’m very proud of him and I’ll always be proud to be his daughter.”
