我们都可以有个美满的家 🏡
Growing up, Raymus Koh often witnessed his parents’ fight. At 11, he could only hide in his room while his parents yelled and slammed doors. The family’s relationship eventually became so strained that conversations dwindled to only “Hellos” and “Goodbyes”.
However, two months before his 13th birthday, Raymus was invited to church by a classmate and decided to accept Christ into his life. Through experiencing God’s love and grace for him, Raymus learned that forgiveness is possible. He prayed to surrender his grudges, hoping that God can use him to break the cycle of brokenness. But it wasn’t easy as conflicts continued and he often struggled to talk to them after heated arguments.
But Raymus continued to show love by accompanying his mum to grocery shopping and offering to pick his dad up from work. Little by little, his mum started opening up about her life and would even ask Raymus to pray for her. His dad also started initiating breakfast to talk about things they were going through.
Today, though his family’s healing is still ongoing, Raymus trusts that God will help them reconcile fully in His time. He also sees how God has used his past hurts to help others by steering him towards projects that encourage others to strengthen their family relationships. In Polytechnic, he started project ‘Comma Singapore’, to promote better intergenerational bonds. Raymus is also a council member of ‘FamChamps’, an NGO that encourages open conversations between children and parents.
“We are all wonderfully made by God. This includes your parents. I believe God has not placed us in our families by accident.”
