HHM X Stories Of Hope | 从想象到现实的 ‘Nyonya Pok Pok Kay’

从想象到现实的 ‘Nyonya Pok Pok Kay’

One day, Eleanor Wee heard an unusual sound while she was praying. She spiritually heard a chicken clucking and saw the words “pok pok kay!” Eleanor felt it was a sign from God about starting a chicken curry business. But the calling was not for her or her husband but their daughter, Sarah. At that time, Eleanor didn’t tell Sarah about God’s vision for her to start a food business. Instead, she prayed for God to directly tell Sarah the same message at the right time. As Sarah grew up, she naturally developed a love for business. One day at a church camp, Sarah prayed to God for direction in her life and she saw a vision of a storefront that was related to selling food. Sarah told her parents what she saw; they had quietly waited for that moment for 10+ years. After a period of learning and growing, Sarah finally started her very own hawker stall. She named it Nyonya Pok Pok Kay, inspired by her mum’s vision. Sarah sells ayam (chicken) curry kapitan, among other tasty Peranakan dishes. Above all, she thanks God for guiding her life and His grace in providing for her. “God cares about all aspects of our lives. He’s interested in us because He loves us.”
