今天是我17岁的生日。

Once able to crawl, Amelia Ng can now no longer speak, move, nor breathe on her own. She suffers from Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), a rare degenerative disorder. Although most children with INAD don’t live past age 10; Amelia just turned 17. Unable to talk, Amelia uses eye flickers and swallows to respond to “yes / no” questions. Despite her struggles, Amelia chooses to love by putting others’ needs first. She’s not afraid of dying, but worries about how her family would cope, especially her mum. In 2022 alone, Amelia nearly died three times, turning blue. However, she felt God’s strong presence during her near-death moments. Amelia’s experiences have brought her family closer together in faith. She loves butterflies, seeing them as symbols of new life. Like a butterfly, she knows she will one day fly away to be with God. But till then, she fights on to stay for the family she loves.
